Asia Youth Week 2001

The Lord’s Prayer

CCA Youth celebrates the Asia Youth Week special week every year on the third week of October. During this special week, 15-21 October for year 2001, we encourage young people in Asia coming together to share and learn about the life experiences in their communities and countries, to reflect upon and critically study the issues affecting peoples’ lives in Asia and to seek for the nature and meaning of Christian mission in our context. Asia Youth Week is also a time for joy and celebration as we express our unity and solidarity of the young people, as well as make a renewed commitment to the vision which holds the promised of a transformed community.

So, this is an invitation to all young people in Asia to hold reflective and celebratory events to mark Asia Youth Week. seminar, workshop, drama, drawing, painting, music, poetry, song, dance, worship and prayer could be used to make such event a memorable one. As it is an ecumenical event it will draw young people—irrespective of faith or ideological commitment. With the success of the Asian Students and Youth Gathering 2000, we strongly encourage the different student and youth groups to organize a common event together. It is our hope that Asia Youth Week will inspire and challenge us to be constantly alive to the vision and hopes; the love and passion being young people in Asia.

This year the theme of Asia Youth Week is “ The Lord’s Prayer”. The Lord’s Prayer captures the essence and the very nature of Christian faith. Re-reading the Lord’s Prayer helps young people to reflect on the rich symbolic meanings imbued in the Lord’s Prayer and challenges us to “live out” its essence. CCA Youth now invited young people who can contribute in creative writing to join a workshop which will prepare the resource material, with articles, poems, prayers and stories and a postcard which will later send to our network for their usage.

Participants are required to collect relevant materials before they come to the workshop
